INERTIAL MEASUREMENT
The Onstream Inspection System comes equipped with a triaxial Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU). This High Performance MEMS module measures the rate of direction changes and acceleration changes on three axes as the tool traverses the line. This information is used to report defect orientation (clock position) on the pipe wall to an accuracy of ±15°. The system also identifies all bends and allows reporting of bend direction, angle and radius, as well as pipeline elevation plotting.
ODOMETER SYSTEM
A minimum of two odometer wheel systems are used on each tool. The system utilizes true zero speed precision
gear tooth sensors to determine tool speed and distance travelled as well as to control the sample frequency on
the tool. The system samples all sensor types every 2mm (0.08”) as the tool travels through the pipeline for one of
the shortest sample rates in the industry.
SUSPENSION SYSTEM
The suspension system utilized on the Onstream Inspection System allows the tool to flow through the pipeline with minimal differential pressure requirements. This means the tool will flow through wall thickness transitions and hardware easily with reduced speed excursions in gas pipelines. The result is higher quality data and lower pipeline pressure requirements to achieve successful inspection results.
